Obituary

Kelsey Anne Harris, 18, of Tustin passed away Thursday, April 17th after losing a battle to Lafora disease, a rare neurodegenerative disorder.

Kelsey was born to Frank and Bridget Harris on Nov. 1st, 1995 in Orange, Ca. In her early childhood Kelsey lived in Irvine and attended UCI’s childcare centers and Springbrook Elementary School before moving to Tustin in 2004, where she finished elementary school at St. Cecilia’s Catholic School.

Kelsey attended Pioneer Middle School and ultimately Beckman High School where she was an honors/honor roll student. She was a senior and scheduled to graduate this year with her fellow classmates.

Kelsey was a perfectionist in every way, as evidenced by her work both within and outside of the classroom. She loved art, helping children and sports of every kind, both as a participant and an observer. She played baseball, softball and basketball but soon determined that soccer was her primary love. She played for the Irvine Premier soccer club, ultimately earning a position as goalkeeper for Beckman High School girl’s soccer team. While she enjoyed watching every sport, she had a special love for Angels baseball.

In addition to her parents, Bridget and Frank, Kelsey is survived by siblings Erin (24), Ryan (23), Nolan (17) and Mark (13).

Kelsey was an incredible daughter, sister and friend and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Funeral arrangements will be held at St. John Neuman Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 29th at 11 o’clock am. Kelsey’s final place of rest will be Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Lake Forest. A reception will be held after both services at the Guzzetta Family Home, 7 Longstreet, Irvine, CA 92620. All are welcome to attend.

Kelsey’s favorite colors were green and purple. Many will be honoring Kelsey by wearing those colors the day of the service.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be sent in Kelsey’s name to Chelsea’s Hope – Lafora Children Research Fund: https://www.chelseashope.org

  1. Kelsey was ALWAYS friendly and personable. I would usually see her on athletic fields – soccer, baseball, etc. and she would somehow find me and bring sunshine to my day. My memory of Kelsey is that she had a warm, pure heart. Now she rests in the comfort of Jesus.

I got to know Kelsey well the last 4 years at our local Little League and she was my “go-to” girl who helped me tie up lose ends at the fields. I got to know her very well as a friend and she always could cheer me up when I was stressed. She knew how to make me laugh and smile. She was about as close as I have come to having a daughter of my own and I’m grateful to Kelsey for caring about me when she had her own issues to contend with. God Bless Kelsey and my deepest condolences to the family. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

Reading all these beautiful memories of Kelsey brings tears to my eyes. Its amazing how many lives she touched in such a short amount of time. I think we can agree she was beautiful inside and out, from her infectious cheery smile, to her outgoing and perky personality, her love for life and for helping others. We met Kelsey when we lived in Laurelwood I think she was in first grade. My husband gave her the nickname “Roo” because she was always so full of energy and bouncing around everywhere. It fit her perfectly. She was not afraid to tell you what she thought and boy did she stand up to those boys, even Tyler she kept him in check. All the while having a crush on him which I believe she took that crush with her. She was one of Tyler’s biggest fans, showing up at his games in hopes of seeing him pitch. I know I will miss seeing her at the fence cheering him on, but i believe she has a front row seat now. I hope she knows how much she meant to all of us. Miss you more than you will ever know. Sleep with the angels Roo.
