  1. I met Gary & Kathy R. over 50 years ago in Los Angeles where many S. Dakota expats had arrived. After some great times there many of us moved to Orange County to build a career and raise a family. We had many many great times together & I remember playing “monster” to the kids which was my favorite time!! Kathy was a gentile caring person & always had funny observations when we had dinner together. She was just a great person. Thursday night I had dinner at the Lumberyard in Laguna Beach with a friend & we both had the Parmesan Crusted Sole which was on of her favorite dishes & one that we enjoyed with her on many occasions!! A great lady !! George Economos

Fifty-five years of truly great memories; USD, Belford, Westminster, El Toro, Dallas, London, Paris, Andorra, Barcelona, Denver, Chicago, the theater, all the dinners etc. Kathy was a Hall of Fame wife, mother and friend. She was a special person and will be greatly missed.

  3. Virginia–I am reaching out from South Dakota to send prayers and sympathy to you. I remember you and Kathy well from the halls of Watertown High School. Kathy and I worked together in Highland Park one summer. You are both truly “Daughters of Dakota”–may the memories comfort you. She will rest in peace. Karon Lampy Schaack

I first met Kathy in 1989, Gary had hired me to work for Hill-Rom the year before. In the early nineties we were all living in Texas and shared Thanksgiving dinner. When I asked Kathy which of the three desserts she would like her answer was “yes please” in other words, Kathy was up for all three! Whatever life offered- international travel, a beautiful home and garden, a good book, time with her grand children or just coffee and a piece of pie-Kathy was up for it! A life well lived, but now, Rest in Peace Kathy.
    Condolences to Gary and family,

  5. My heart is very sad to hear the news of Kathy’s passing. I have known Gary and known his kindness over the years through Hill-Rom and I am keeping them in my thoughts and prayers at this most trying time.
