Kathleen Marie Edwards November 20, 1923 – October 10, 2019
Kathleen (Kay) was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on November 20, 1923 and passed away peacefully on October 10, 2019 in Laguna Hills, California.
Kay will be remembered by her family and friends as the one whose constant smile and giggles would infect your soul (not to mention those famous cookies of hers). She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School where she met and married the love of her life, Charles Richard Edwards.
Kay earned her nursing degree from St. John's Hospital in North Dakota and worked as a Registered Nurse at Maternity Hospital in Minnesota.
She and Charles had five children and moved to Southern California in 1955. Kay was a school nurse, a member and president of The Altar Society at St. Pius V Parish in Buena Park and donated her time at the Methadone Clinic. She served for more than a decade with Meals on Wheels, always serving others.
Kay adored her Irish Heritage, prayers and all those funny Irish phrases like "Every Irish family has a story-teller" . Most importantly, Kay loved being a wife, mother and baking those goodies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and her two sons, Rick and John. She is survived by her three daughters, Pat Sparks, Kathie Dodd and Jamie Jacobson, as well as her daughter-in-law, Joan Edwards, and sons-in-law Chris Sparks, Dave Dodd and Bruce Jacobson. Kay is also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is additionally survived by her sisters, Mary Crary and Winnie Savageau and her brother, Tim Bernardy and sisters-in-law, Shirley Bernardy and Bonnie Bernardy.
