Obituary

Kathy Rolfes-Treadwell

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kathy Rolfes-Treadwell, beloved mother, devoted wife, and cherished friend, in Newport Beach on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on May 11, 1932, in Kewanee Illinois, Kathy’s life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and faith, qualities that she nurtured within her family and shared generously with her community. Kathy was survived by her five children, Marypat Lucas (Kent), Tom Rolfes (Carrie), Mike Rolfes (Kathy),  Annie Lovley (Jack), Pat Rolfes (Jennifer) and her fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Kathy’s remarkable journey began in Kewanee but took a meaningful turn when she attended The Villa de Chantal Women’s High School in Rock Island Illinois where she graduated in 1950. After high school Kathy attended Marquette University, where she met the love of her life, Paul Rolfes, on a blind date. The couple were soon married and in 1957 they settled in Orange County, laying the foundations of a vibrant family life that would span over five decades. Together, they raised five children, instilling in them values of compassion, resilience, and the importance of family. Kathy’s role as a mother was one of her greatest joys and achievements, and she approached it with an unparalleled mix of grace, commitment, and love.

Beyond her family, Kathy found fulfillment in her career as a dental hygienist, where she touched the lives of countless patients with her care and dedication. However, her heart was always with her home and family, which expanded to include 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

Kathy’s faith was a guiding light in her life. She was deeply involved in her church communities at St Joachim, Our Lady Queen of Angels and Saint John Vianney. Her commitment to her faith was unwavering, and she served as a model of love and service to all who knew her. She will be remembered and cherished in her church community.

After the passing of her husband Paul, Kathy’s heart found room to love again, and she was blessed with a happy marriage to George Treadwell. Their time together was filled with happiness, a further testament to Kathy’s capacity for love and her belief in the joy of companionship.

Kathy’s final days were spent surrounded by the love of her family, a fitting tribute to a life dedicated to nurturing and cherishing those she loved. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her remarkable life and the countless memories she has left us. Her journey on earth may have ended, but her legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to inspire those who knew her.
