Obituary

Kathleen Ann Norton Jarvis, of Mission Viejo, was born on May 6th, 1927 and died this past Saturday, October 3rd 2009 at French Park Care Center in Santa Ana, California. She fell ill while on vacation in April of 2008. She remained hospitalized until her death. Over the past five months she had shown remarkable signs of recovery and was happy with her progress. Saturday morning she had her first cup of tea since before she got sick. Saturday afternoon she took a nap and passed away peacefully in her sleep.

The family wishes express gratitude to our friends and family for their prayers, encouragement and help during this time. We also wish to thank the staff of French Park for their loving care during her convalescence. You all made our lives easier.

She was the daughter of Pierce T. Norton, a Lumber Yard owner and Lillian K. Norton, a school principal. She and her brother Tom grew up in Provo, Utah. She received her Bachelors degree and Teaching Credential from Utah State University and went on to teach second grade in Baldwin Park California. She met Stanley Dee Jarvis while attending Utah State. They married August 17th, 1953 and had three children, Mary Ellen, Jim and Paul. Paul has two children, David and Henry. Jim and his wife Carol have one son, Matthew Reilly. She loved her family deeply. She left teaching to raise her kids.

Kathleen was active in St Kilian Catholic Church in Mission Viejo and was a past president of the Catholic Women’s Council. Viewing will be held on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, 8:00-9:00 AM at St Kilian’s with the funeral Mass immediately following there at 9:00 AM.
