Obituary

Karla Marie Amaya

Karla Marie Amaya, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt was called home to our Lord on Monday, March 27, 2023, at the age of 52.

Karla was born on August 11, 1970, in Long Beach, California. On the day of Karla’s birth, the hospital was flooded with family and friends who came to welcome her and showered her with love.  The day of her passing was no different as she was surrounded by family and close friends when the Lord called her home.

Karla graduated from Ghar High School in 1988.  She grew up in Cerritos, California and shared many wonderful childhood memories with her three siblings and six cousins, including family gatherings on Sundays at her grandparent’s home.  Karla enjoyed camping in Yosemite, attending Dodger games and Disneyland outings.

Karla spent her days acting as the family party planner, dance/cheer aunt, caregiver, sports enthusiast, and a force of love. As her siblings had children, she was there to help care for them and be their BFF’s (as she would say). All of the nieces and nephews: Robert Jr, Richard, Raquel, Ryder, Riley, Ryan, Matthew and Alyssa knew her as someone they could count on. Nobody cheered for her family louder than Karla.

Karla is survived by husband, Rodrigo Amaya; son, Andrew Jaques; daughter MaKayla Jaques; her parents Ray and Marie Rivera; uncle and godfather, Raymond (Cecilia) Amaro; uncle Anthony (Eva) Amaro; aunt Linda (Roger) Godsey; sister, Michelle (Kevin) Howes; sister, Donna (Erik) Hess, and brother, Joe (Rosie) Rivera. Karla is preceded in death by her grandparents Jesus and Esther Amaro; Lupe and Linda Rivera; uncle Richard(Florence) Amaro. Amongst the family were many friends who Karla loved as family. The amount of kindness in her heart spread far and wide to anyone who knew her.

Karla, I don’t think you ever knew the many hearts you touched in your Lifetime, especially the MANY KIDS you unknowingly forever left an imprint in their hearts, whether they were family, friends, dance teams, baseball/softball teams, etc. to name a few. To have known you, was to know a fun, caring, warm-hearted individual who lived Life to the max, always giggling, smiling with an unlimited energy. I always heard about it from your #1 Fan/ BFF Alyssa… constantly “AUNTIE KARLA, AUNTIE KARLA…” Yes, Auntie Karla always on the go with your nieces and nephews who eagerly looked forward to birthdays and holidays, as you always added your special touch with your amazing talent and creativity. May you Rest in Peace… Sincerely, BFF #2 (Tia Patty).
