I had the privilege of knowing June and the honor of being her friend. She was a self made woman from a bygone era, a member of the great generation. Our conversations were often loud and colorful as I presented June with a boomer’s political perspective. It was so enjoyable to listen to her stories with her little dog, Lucy, on her lap at the kitchen table. One of my favorites was June flying her 1948 Luscumbe airplane. Her story painted a picture of her in a leather helmet with googles and a leather flight jacket.I’m going to miss her. So, it is from a boomer to a Great One, that I say goodbye with tears in my eyes and a pain in my heart.

I will always remember June. I admired her independent spirit. I have been privileged to know her as my friend and neighbor for over 25 years. She started out as a sort of mentor to me and was always willing to lend her advice or ear when I had a problem. That relationship grew into a friendship over time. June was so easy to talk to and I enjoyed our many conversations over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. She loved to laugh and had a quick wit. Always the hostess, she would offer me a bite to eat of something she had cooked or baked. She even taught me how to cook some recipes in her kitchen. Over the years we shared many happy get togethers with the girls in our building, Patty, Pam, Sharon, and Ruth. She also had so many other friends at Cameray Pointe. I will always picture the tres amigos, June, Lucy, and Toby sitting out in front of the house and visiting with all her friends. God bless you June. All my love, Karen

  3. What a character our June was; she always had a great story to tell and always had that great laugh (even when she wasn’t feeling the best). She loved to talk to me about Real Estate and would say to me, ‘Kathy you just knock on the door, introduce yourself and tell them they need to work with you.’ I wish I had known her when she was in her heyday of working; I am sure she was one tough cookie! Bentley loved to stop by Auntie June’s to get a cookie, play with Lucy and terrorize Toby. We had some great laughs when she and Patty would join me in the pool and do a little walking. She was very proud of all of her girls and especially ecited about Brooklyn.. I’m really going to miss June. My deepest sympathies to Debbie and her family.

June and I have been neighbors for almost 15 years. We began our friendship after I lost a family member and so begins our bond and unconditional friendship. I will never meet a person like June in my life again. June is one of a kind. She taught me how to cook and bake and she was a patient teacher. She told me I had zero patience and we would laugh. One year ago we went to the DMV together to renew our drivers licenses and neither one of could see the eye chart and some how we both passed and walked away with our renewal!! We laughed all the way home. We laughed daily. I had the privilege to help June when she wasn’t feeling good and watched her be the warrior she was and fight to the very end! I loved June so much and selfishly will miss her everyday. Her beloved Toby and Lucy will miss her too. Prayers for the Doss and Gruhn and Baron families. . She was so proud of all of them and their accomplishments Being part of the community we live in with Karen and Jim and Eileen and Shawn and Luce and everyone is very special and June knew everyone and loved her home and neighborhood. It won’t be the same without June but we will carry on with Her memory.

We loved June for so many reasons. June was the nucleus of our neighborhood. She welcomed everyone with open arms and her contagious laughter. As I often listened to her life stories one thing was evident and that was her tenacity. June was a fighter and a survivor, she had such a positive attitude for life even at its toughest moments. We are all better for knowing her. May you rest in peace, You will be greatly missed.
