Obituary

Judy Belser nee Judith Ann Nichols
July 11, 1955- April 22, 2009

Judy passed away peacefully at Mission Hospital on April 22nd after a brief illness. On that day she went home to heaven and is now rejoicing with God and her beloved mother and other dear friends and family members that predeceased her.

The beloved daughter of Wharton A., DDS and Joyce E. Nichols, she was born at Garfield Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., the third of their four children. She spent her early years traveling with her military family to Germany, West Point in New York, Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and finally to Honolulu, Hawaii. She completed a Bachelors of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene and shortly thereafter moved to Napa Valley, California to pursue her career. She rekindled a friendship from Hawaii with Vince Belser, who was attending San Francisco University, and he helped her to settle in to her new environment. This friendship soon blossomed into a life-long love affair; Judy and Vince were married on August 22, 1984. Vince then joined the Marine Corps and received officer training in Quantico, Virginia and flight training in Pensacola, Florida. Judy relished her role of military wife, as her mother had before her, and she and Vince loved all of their assignments, making many devoted friends along the way. Finally, they made their home in Mission Viejo for the past 25 years. They have one beautiful daughter, Callan Justine, who is 20 years old and attending college in Delray Beach, Florida.

Judy loved life, and lived her life to the fullest as a devout Christian. She was the most devoted wife and mother, daughter and sister, cousin and niece, and best friend to untold numbers of people. Our Judy never met a stranger. No matter where she was, she always made a positive impact on the peoples lives she touched. This beautiful soul will be so very missed.

Judy is survived by her husband Vince and her daughter Callan; her father, Wharton; brothers Ken and Greg Cindy and her sister Kathy Hank; her puppies Malibu and Snickers and favorite feline Sadie.

Memorial Service will be held at Mount of Olives Lutheran Church, 24772 Chrisanta Drive, Mission Viejo, 92691. There will be a celebration of Judy’s life and open house at the Belser residence immediately following. Please visit and help us personalize Judy’s memorial webpage at www.oconnormortuary.com under obituaries. Vince and Callan wish to express their deepest gratitude to all of Judy’s wonderful family and dear friends for all their love and support. They also wish to acknowledge the caring and professional nursing staff of the SICU at Mission Hospital and Saddleback Hospital. Their kindness will always be remembered. Judy will always be remembered as a true instrument of the Lord’s peace.

I too met Judy at an EcoQuest event. We quickly connected and I soon realized what a wonderful person Judy was. She had that rare quality that allowed her to make friends quickly and had such a wonderful spirit! She was also always willing to volunteer her time to help anyone that needed her assistance. We stayed connected thru wonderful emails and she will truly be missed. I know that the lives she touched were a gift and the memories Judy leaves behind will live forever. My deepest condolences go out to her family during this time.

  5. Mary Feltman says:

I am married to Judy’s first cousin, Jim Feltman. I only met Judy once but I have always remembered how loving, friendly, and happy she was. It saddens me that we will not be able to share more of our lives as I always looked forward to getting together again.
My heart goes out to Vince and Callan in this time because I know they will miss Judy a great deal. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. It is a comfort to know Judy has found peace with Jesus and now is in a better place with Him. My prayer is you will find the comfort there is in friends who have been here before you and in the Savior who knows your every need and desire.
