Obituary

Judy Belser nee Judith Ann Nichols
July 11, 1955- April 22, 2009

Judy passed away peacefully at Mission Hospital on April 22nd after a brief illness. On that day she went home to heaven and is now rejoicing with God and her beloved mother and other dear friends and family members that predeceased her.

The beloved daughter of Wharton A., DDS and Joyce E. Nichols, she was born at Garfield Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., the third of their four children. She spent her early years traveling with her military family to Germany, West Point in New York, Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and finally to Honolulu, Hawaii. She completed a Bachelors of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene and shortly thereafter moved to Napa Valley, California to pursue her career. She rekindled a friendship from Hawaii with Vince Belser, who was attending San Francisco University, and he helped her to settle in to her new environment. This friendship soon blossomed into a life-long love affair; Judy and Vince were married on August 22, 1984. Vince then joined the Marine Corps and received officer training in Quantico, Virginia and flight training in Pensacola, Florida. Judy relished her role of military wife, as her mother had before her, and she and Vince loved all of their assignments, making many devoted friends along the way. Finally, they made their home in Mission Viejo for the past 25 years. They have one beautiful daughter, Callan Justine, who is 20 years old and attending college in Delray Beach, Florida.

Judy loved life, and lived her life to the fullest as a devout Christian. She was the most devoted wife and mother, daughter and sister, cousin and niece, and best friend to untold numbers of people. Our Judy never met a stranger. No matter where she was, she always made a positive impact on the peoples lives she touched. This beautiful soul will be so very missed.

Judy is survived by her husband Vince and her daughter Callan; her father, Wharton; brothers Ken and Greg Cindy and her sister Kathy Hank; her puppies Malibu and Snickers and favorite feline Sadie.

Memorial Service will be held at Mount of Olives Lutheran Church, 24772 Chrisanta Drive, Mission Viejo, 92691. There will be a celebration of Judy’s life and open house at the Belser residence immediately following. Vince and Callan wish to express their deepest gratitude to all of Judy’s wonderful family and dear friends for all their love and support. They also wish to acknowledge the caring and professional nursing staff of the SICU at Mission Hospital and Saddleback Hospital. Their kindness will always be remembered. Judy will always be remembered as a true instrument of the Lord’s peace.

    Vince and Callan,
My wife Susan and I are very sad to hear of Judys early departure. We know you are hurting and we wish you both the very best. Judy was a wonderful person, and she could cook a great meal, I remember that dinner at Quantico all those years ago and the good time we had… She was sweet and kind…
love from Kevin, Susan and Ryan

    Dear Vince and Callan,
We were shocked and saddened to learn of Judy’s passing away. It seems like only yesterday we saw her walking Malibu and Snickers. Judy was always eager to stop and chat and offer encouraging words or interesting tidbits of information. When we think of our neighborhood, we always think of Judy, who could out walk all of us. She seemed to have more energy and life in her than our entire family combined! Judy was an inspiration in many ways. She contributed so much enthusiasm and kindness to so many lives, it is hard to understand how God could have called her to be with Him in heaven so soon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and all of your family, that through the pain of missing Judy, you will somehow feel God’s comfort and find the strength you need for each day.

  4. I am still in disbelief that Judy is gone. I wish she would of been given the chance to beat this disease as I have been given. My best memory of Judy is her being the tour guide when we were in Hawaii for soccer. What a perfect time we had. I will miss her beautiful smile. I wish peace for you, Vince and Callan, and know she is smiling down on you both. Love, Susan, Lindsey and Hunter

  5. Dear Callan and Vince,
I am truly, truly sorry for your great loss. Judy was one of the friendliest people who made a big difference in Amber’s life when Amber first came into our lives as a foster child. She loved life and was so full of life. Judy was a magnificent human being and she will be missed but she will always remain a part of our hearts.
