Obituary

Judy Belser nee Judith Ann Nichols
July 11, 1955- April 22, 2009

Judy passed away peacefully at Mission Hospital on April 22nd after a brief illness. On that day she went home to heaven and is now rejoicing with God and her beloved mother and other dear friends and family members that predeceased her.

The beloved daughter of Wharton A., DDS and Joyce E. Nichols, she was born at Garfield Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., the third of their four children. She spent her early years traveling with her military family to Germany, West Point in New York, Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and finally to Honolulu, Hawaii. She completed a Bachelors of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene and shortly thereafter moved to Napa Valley, California to pursue her career. She rekindled a friendship from Hawaii with Vince Belser, who was attending San Francisco University, and he helped her to settle in to her new environment. This friendship soon blossomed into a life-long love affair; Judy and Vince were married on August 22, 1984. Vince then joined the Marine Corps and received officer training in Quantico, Virginia and flight training in Pensacola, Florida. Judy relished her role of military wife, as her mother had before her, and she and Vince loved all of their assignments, making many devoted friends along the way. Finally, they made their home in Mission Viejo for the past 25 years. They have one beautiful daughter, Callan Justine, who is 20 years old and attending college in Delray Beach, Florida.

Judy loved life, and lived her life to the fullest as a devout Christian. She was the most devoted wife and mother, daughter and sister, cousin and niece, and best friend to untold numbers of people. Our Judy never met a stranger. No matter where she was, she always made a positive impact on the peoples lives she touched. This beautiful soul will be so very missed.

Judy is survived by her husband Vince and her daughter Callan; her father, Wharton; brothers Ken and Greg Cindy and her sister Kathy Hank; her puppies Malibu and Snickers and favorite feline Sadie.

Memorial Service will be held at Mount of Olives Lutheran Church, 24772 Chrisanta Drive, Mission Viejo, 92691. There will be a celebration of Judy’s life and open house at the Belser residence immediately following. Vince and Callan wish to express their deepest gratitude to all of Judy’s wonderful family and dear friends for all their love and support. They also wish to acknowledge the caring and professional nursing staff of the SICU at Mission Hospital and Saddleback Hospital. Their kindness will always be remembered. Judy will always be remembered as a true instrument of the Lord’s peace.

  3. We will miss seeing Judy everyday walking her dogs and waving to us as we drive by.

  4. I used to babysit for Callan and she was such a special little girl! One of my most favorite parts of every babysitting experience was spending time with Judy. Her smile was contagious. Every year for Christmas they would give me an angel ornament. This year when I was decorating my tree, I once again saw my angels and I was reminded of the times we shared.

It’s a normal Monday morning…May 9,2011. Every now & then I think of my sweet cousin Judy….and her beautiful daughter Callan & of course Vince too!!
Since her passing I miss Callan & Vince so much, but I know they are doing fine.
My short story is about my flight returning from Thailand to be at Judy’s funeral. I know Vince – being a seasoned pilot sees beautiful images all the time while flying, but for me i witnessed the most beautiful image i have ever seen in my life. Somewhere over the Pacific, i was sleeping in & out. I was dreaming about Judy then woke to find all the passengers around me sleeping. I was drawn to crack my window & then saw the most incredible image of the sun coming up over the earths circumference. I wept in my seat peering out at this most special sunrise. All my thoughts were of Judy & her laugh/smile/goodness. I also thought of Callan & Vince. I felt warmth & Judy whispered “it’s all good Jim” “everything will be fine”. I know this sounds kind of out there, but I heard it & it was Judy’s voice. I miss her & was just thinking about her again!!
