Judith (Judy) Ann Putnam (née Clark), of Irvine, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2026, at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Judy was born on July 24,1947 in Glendale, California to Vivian and Otha (Bud) Clark, the third of four children. She spent her childhood and most of her early adult life in Lancaster, California. She fondly recalled family road trips as a child, piled into the station wagon with her 3 brothers, to visit national parks, Oregon, and New Mexico. Following graduation from Antelope Valley High School in 1965, Judy worked as a secretary at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Facility at Edwards Air Force Base, before marrying Terrill (Terry) Putnam in 1967. They were blessed with the birth of three sons. Judy devoted nearly 20 years to being at home with her boys, ensuring all their needs were met with school, AYSO soccer, band, and Little League baseball. She volunteered extensively in her children's schools, and at one point was recognized with a PTA Founder's Award for her exceptional and selfless service to children in the school district. After her divorce in 1987, Judy found herself again as an avid bicyclist and took numerous courses toward an associate's degree at Antelope Valley College. She rejoined the work force as a receptionist at Mid-Valley Real Estate in Lancaster in 1988, where she enjoyed working for the next 15 years.
In 2003, Judy relocated to Irvine, California, where she resided for the remainder of her life. Being geographically closer to her sons and their growing families filled her bucket as she was able to dote on her grandchildren. Judy was most comfortable around children and found her greatest joy as "Nana" to her grandchildren. She would play for hours on the floor with American Girl dolls or monster trucks, reading, painting, building Legos, and playing dress-up when they were young. Nana frequently volunteered to act as chauffeur and enjoyed watching hundreds of sporting events, including soccer, baseball, swimming, dance, and cheer. She also spent countless hours shopping for gifts to spoil her grandchildren, and then took exceptional care wrapping their presents with the most exquisite bows. Christmas and birthdays were always extra special occasions, thanks to Nana. When she wasn't taking care of others, Judy could most often be found working in her yard, which always had the most beautiful flowers.
Judy is survived by her sons Brant (Jillian) of Palos Verdes, Jeff (Kim) of Irvine, and Andy (Christine) of Saline, Michigan, and her ten grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Bruce (Nancy) and Jay (Cathy), and six nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Vivian, and her brother, Bill.
Judy was a private, humble, and unassuming woman who was very kind, generous, and independent. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services and a brief reception will be held Monday, April 6th at 11:00AM at Mariner's Church in Irvine followed by burial at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar.
