Dr. Judith A. Haythorne Macurda passed away in Dana Point, CA on May 22, 2010 at the age of 68. Born in Columbus, OH and raised in Glendale, CA, she graduated from USC and went on to earn her medical degree at UCI in 1969.

After working in private pediatric practice and as an outpatient physician at CHOC, she obtained a Masters in Public Health from the University of Hawaii in 1981. She served as Clinical Director of the Waimanalo Clinic on Oahu, HI, later acted as Chief, School Health Services for the State of Hawaii; and ultimately became Hawaii's State Epidemiologist. Several years later after returning to California, she worked as a hospice Medical Director.

Throughout her life, she had an avid passion for fiber arts. She taught knitting and quilting at Saddleback College and won many awards for her artistic projects. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, two daughters and five grandchildren.

A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. on June 2nd at O'Connor Mortuary, Laguna Hills and a memorial service will be held at noon on June 3rd at St. Catherine of Siena, Laguna Beach. Burial will be at Ascension Cemetery at 10 a.m. on June 4th.
