Obituary

Daughter of Harry and Helen Pape. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin June 3, 1930. Deceased March 19, 2007 at South Coast Hospital in Laguna Beach, CA. Cause of death was an acute urinary tact infection that entered the bloodstream.

She attended Messmer High School in the class of 1948 and graduated from Marquette University with a degree in sociology in 1952. She was married to L. Thomas McNicholas on September 27, 1952. They moved to California in September 1953, residing in Arcadia until the family moved to Niguel Shores, Monarch Beach in January.1973.

She was a devoted mother, wife, daughter and good friend to many. Her main joy in life was spending time with her children’s home, school and extra-curricular activities such as Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts as a den mother, Camp Fire Girl troop leader and endless hours driving her children to various sports, school and social activities. Always the perfect hostess, she enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family and friends at numerous birthday and holiday celebrations. She also enjoyed being a professional model and fashion show coordinator and moderator.

She was diagnosed in November 1972 with the progressive form of multiple sclerosis. Although wheelchair bound for many years, she lived a full and active life. She and husband Tom traveled for many years to exotic destinations such as Italy, Egypt with a Nile cruise, Israel, Greece, Hawaii, England, France, Germany and Spain.

She is survived by her family, husband Thomas McNicholas, son Michael T. McNicholas and wife Theresa and grandson John of Livingston, MT, daughter Diana Pizza and husband Greg and four children Leyla, Brock, Breezy and Tavia, of Vista, CA, her sister in law Agnes Pape, her nephew John Pape and niece Kara Pape Docimo of Arcadia, CA.
