Obituary
Josephine Valdes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, died peacefully on August 12, 2014.
Josephine was born on March 17, 1933 in Havana, Cuba to Benito and Efigenia Garcia, the youngest of their three daughters: Teresa (deceased), Luisa, and Josephine. Josephine graduated from the University of Havana in 1952 with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. It was in Havana that she met her future husband, Ralph Valdes. They were married in 1956 and shared 58 very happy and loving years of marriage together. After leaving Cuba in 1962, Ralph, Josephine, and their young family lived in Miami for one year and then settled in Southern California where they created a loving and wonderful life for their family, including her mother-in-law, Alicia Acosta, who was part of their daily lives.
Josephine was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her husband Ralph and their three children: daughter Josephine and her husband, Robert; son Robert and his wife, Joanne; daughter Evelyn and her husband, David. Josephine also leaves behind five grandchildren whom she adored and who loved her with all their hearts: Julia, Caroline, Robbie, William, and Christopher.
