Obituary

Joseph Elliot Patrick of Irvine, California, passed away quietly at his home early in the morning of November 22. He was 67.

Joe, as he was known to his friends, grew up on Pea Ridge near Creswell, NC. He graduated valedicatorian from Creswell High School in 1965. He graduated from East Carolina University (ECU) in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration before going on to earn his MBA, also from ECU.

Early in his career, Joe briefly taught business classes at Coastal Community College and ECU. He also worked for several years for the regional development institute in Greenville, NC. For the majority of his career as a CPA and auditor he served at Fluor International. Joe had a great passion for travel, and his career with Fluor allowed him to visit places all around the United States and the world. He relocated to Irvine, California in 1989 because of his job, and found that he liked it so much he never wanted to leave. He retired from Fluor on July 1, 2013.

Joe is survived by his brother, Hugh, and his nephews Alton, Jeremy, Daniel, and Talmage.

A memorial service and visitation will be held from 3-5 PM on Sunday, November 25 at O’Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills, CA. The funeral and burial will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Roper, NC on Wednesday, November 27.
