Joseph Edward
Murphy
October 29, 1929 – April 29, 2009
Joseph Edward Murphy was born and grew up in Denver, Colorado. He attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, Regis High School and graduated form the University of Denver. Joe served in Korea while in the U.S. Army. His career was in travel and insurance.
Shortly after college, he ran into an old schoolmate from Blessed Sacrament, Barbara Shea. They fell in love and were married on May 5, 1956. They had three children, Jill, Stephen and Stacie. Joe loved his native Colorado and was particularily passionate about the Denver Broncos.
Joe's work brought the family to Mission Viejo, California in 1977.Life in California was great as he also had a passion for the oceanand sailing.
Joe and Barb demonstrated the best in a loving marriage and in creating a warm and wonderful family home. They had an enduring philosophy-there was always room for one more ath the Murphy table.
The family grew as Stacie married Scott Wilson and Stephen married Martha Murphy. Joe loved those additions,
Four of his greatest joys were his grandchildren-Samantha Wilson 19, Scotty Wilson17, Matthew Murphy11 and Ashleigh Murphy3. He was often seen with a grandchild by his side-there to grab a Tootsie Roll from his shirt pocket or to learn something new. Joe was full of interesting information and knew something about many, many things.
Joe had a twinkle in his eye and it shined at it's brightest when he looked at Barb. He touched many lives with his faith, intelligence, integrity, quick wit and loving heart. His family and all those who knew Good Old Joe have an empty place in their hearts today.
