Obituary

Joseph Edward Becker was born November 25, 1958, to Barbara Jean Haney and Robert Lee Popp, and was raised by his mother and Robert Carlyle Becker with his siblings in Grants Pass, Oregon.

He grew up swimming, fishing, hiking, and camping with his friends and family and always loved the outdoors. He graduated from South Umpqua High School in 1978 before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1979 where he served as an avionics technician until being honorably discharged in 1983.

After his military service Joe put his technical skills to use working for Sprint and later Ericsson as a Lead Telecommunications Technician for 33 years. Joe settled down in Southern California where he had three children: Zachary, Taylor, and Chelsea. He shared with his children his passion for the outdoors and to this day all three enjoy camping, hiking, and touring national parks.

Joe was an avid motorcyclist. He loved being on the open road traveling all across the country. During this time he made many friends in motorcycle clubs and had many adventures.

Joseph Edward Becker passed away December 19, 2018, and is survived by his three children Zachary Becker, Taylor Corpuz-Becker, Chelsea Becker. His grandson Caleb Becker. His sisters Susan Richey (Becker) and Leona Warren (Becker). His step-siblings Dennis Becker and Cindy Davis (Becker). His cousin and travel companion Mike Becker. His nephew Jason Richey and his niece Theresa Ramirez (Richey).

Joe’s ashes will be spread in a private family ceremony in Oregon and, since Joe was a veteran, a portion will also be interred at Riverside National Cemetery. The ceremony at the military cemetery is open to the public and will be held on Monday, February 4th, 2019 at 11:45 a.m.

I am thankful to have the pleasure of meeting you, Joe, and experiencing our many rides together. You were always thoughtful, kind, considerate of others, friendly… I could go on and on. Never heard anything bad about you. More people should be like you were. You set an example for all of us. Rest in Peace my friend

  5. JL says:

Joe, I am so grateful that we reconnected in 2010. You were my first love at the tender age of 18. Even though our love was not meant to be, we remained friends sharing stories of our children and grandchildren. We laughed and shared jokes and we also shared our patriotism for America.
One day I will learn why you left us. In the meantime, you will always hold a special place in my heart. Goodbye, my friend.
