Johnny and i were cut from the same cloth…in the sense we were just not big fans of school and both have a deep love for the ocean. The one thing about Johnny that I loved was his smile…huge smile! During the weekdays when he should have been at school and I working…. I would see him riding by our house in wetsuit with surfboard all too often. Half the time I was going to or from surfing as well. Sometimes I would ask him how it was, jokingly tell him to stop ditching school, or just yell Johnny! Johnny would always keep riding on by (always polite and acknowledge me though), but every time I would get that huge smile which always made me smile as well. That will always be my thing with Johnny and how I will remember him. Riding by the house with surfboard and that huge smile! Much Love Johnny VDA!

    Dear VDA family,

We may not have known Johnny personally, but we do know he came from an amazing family. Johnny was very lucky to have each and everyone of you by his side to enjoy life with. Your family is so important to the community and everyone who knows you. Your love, joy, and kindness have touched so many lives. We are lifting you all in prayer and know Johnny is surfing up in heaven right now. We know our love and prayers won’t fill your empty space but we love you and are blessed to call you friends. Go Johnny Go!

    Love,
Kenzie, Stacey, Gene, Makena, and Jaedyn Houston.
