Obituary

John Severe Belanger died Tuesday, June 28, 2005. John was born July 5th, 1920 in Wisconsin. He graduated
from the University of Washington after serving in the Air Force
Supply Command during WWII. After graduating, he married
Dorothy Sheehan and began a distinguished career with Consolidated
Freightways. A series of promotions took John and his family to several
cities throughout the west where he formed many life-long friendships. His
final move was from Portland to Irvine in 1979 where he and Dorothy quickly
became true Southern Californians, enjoying the opportunities to play year
round outdoor tennis and becoming involved in a number of church and
community activities. After retiring in 1987, John devoted his time to his
church, community, family, and friends. He served on his association board
three times, once as president; was honored by the UCI Brain Imaging Center
for his volunteer work, and chaired the 2000 Regional Serra Club Convention.

John and Dorothy celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary June 27th. He
kept four generations of extended family close by creating and publishing a monthly
family newsletter filled with words of wisdom, witty anecdotes of family members’ misadventures,
family announcements, milestones and memoirs.
John survived by his wife, Dorothy, five children, Annett, Beverly and Mark of Portland, OR,
Paul of Philadelphia, PA, Tony of Knoxville, TN, and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the
family suggests donations to Catholic Charities of Orange County, 1800 E. McFadden Santa Ana, CA
