Shortly after he was born, the family relocated to Santa Monica, California. He was the eldest of five children. From an early age Jack had a strong work ethic. Following the war, Jack decided to go to Law School. He worked full time at Douglas Aircraft Company in Torrance while attending Loyola Law School at night.

A mutual friend introduced him to Marilyn Elizabeth Miller whom he married in 1962. They celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this past February.

He practiced law as a public defender with the County of Los Angeles for 15 years. In 1973 he became a magistrate judge for the U.S Court in Los Angeles and retired in 1993 after 20 years of service.
