Obituary

John Pierre Schock, 59, of Seal Beach, CA, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, died peacefully on June 1, 2012. John fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 20, 1953 in Trenton, New Jersey to Eileen Tally and Roger Schock.

John grew up in Hollywood and graduated from Fairfax High School, where he excelled in swimming and cross-country. John graduated from Long Beach State University with a degree in ocean engineering. He had a distinguished and enjoyable career working as a structural engineering consultant. John was a black belt in aikido and enjoyed instructing new members at the OC Aiki Kai Dojo. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Rosemary, hiking, camping, skiing, and snorkeling.

John will be dearly missed by his wife Rosemary; father Roger; sisters Eileen and Kim; and many other family members. John built his life around his family and friends and his kindness, strength, and integrity will be greatly missed.

A funeral Mass will take place Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with a Rosary at 10:30 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 340 Tenth St., Seal Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Red Cross or the Aquarium of the Pacific would be appreciated.

  2. From Roger and the many pictures we were shown, we know that you were a very kind and nice man. Rosemary, Roger, Eileen and Kim will terribly miss you. We always hoped to welcome you in Luxembourg in the same lovely way you did with Marc in L.A.. Rest in peace.

  5. I met John more than 24 years ago. Soon we became good colleagues and close friends. John showed a great deal of integrity in all aspects of his life and always provided me with a great deal of encourgement and support in life and work for which I am forever indebted to him. I will never forget our close friendship and the mutual repect that we had for each other. You will always be in my heart as a great friend.
