  2. Hi Cindy, Eleanor and all the family. I just learned of John’s passing this weekend. I have known John since 1955 and as one of the “infamous” members of the Unknowns singing group had many funny and wonderful memories with John.

I lost touch with him when he joined the Marines and then reestablished contact with him when we moved to California. Nancy and I stayed with John and Cindy in their home during our move from Texas for about ten days in 1983.

I don’t know if anyone knew that John had an incredible singing voice and was a star athlete as well in high school. John had a great sense of humor and never harmed a fly. I always loved John and wished that I could have seen him more often.

I will say a prayer for him but I know that he is now singing beautiful hymns along with the other angels to our Lord and savior and one day I will be teaming up with him to do our Everly Brothers imitation once more.

    Regards,
    Al (Sonny) Burkett
