John Paul Morrill
1931-2009

John Paul Morrill, age 77, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home, Friday, June 19, 2009 in Laguna Niguel, CA. He was born July 16, 1931 in South Gate, CA, to the late Paul and Margaret Morrill. John is preceded in death by his daughter, Shawna Morrill.

John attended UCLA on a baseball scholarship and later went on to play professional ball as a pitcher with the Cleveland Indians. He graduated from Long Beach State University majoring in physical education and business. John enjoyed a successful career as a metal broker in the aluminum industry for over 30 years, but was happiest when surrounded by family and close friends.

Surviving him are his wife, Cheryl Morrill of Laguna Niguel, CA; sons Michael Morrill and wife Valerie of Corona del Mar, CA; John J. Morrill of Athol, Id; and Darren Morrill of San Juan Capistrano, CA; step-children Scott Sauer and wife Kelly of Albuquerque, NM; and Mark Sauer of Palm Springs, CA; grandchildren Marissa, Connor, and Alexandra Morrill; step-grandchildren Joel, Isaac, and Levi Sauer.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 26, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the O'Connor Mortuary Chapel, 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills. John will be laid to rest following a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kansas.
