Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of John Robert Morgan on May 15, 2026, at the age of 78. John passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a sharp sense of humor that never faded.

John was born on November 18, 1947, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He later moved to Northern California, where he grew up with his mother Nadine, stepfather Robert, and big sisters Martha and Virginia. After high school, John enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly and honorably serving as an aircraft mechanic from 1969 to 1973 during the Vietnam War.

Following his military service, John reconnected with his first love, Donna Plsek, and moved to Southern California. The two were married at Saint Kilian Catholic Church and eventually made their home in Mission Viejo, California, where they raised their three boys and built a home filled with love, laughter, and lifelong memories. During this time, John began what would become a distinguished 50-year career as a machine mechanic in the pharmaceutical industry. Colleagues knew him for his unwavering work ethic, quick wit, willingness to help others, and his knack for fixing just about anything.

John was mechanically inclined, feisty, funny, and could be brutally honest in the way only someone with a truly big heart can be. He found joy in coin collecting, fishing, vintage cars, cheering on the Raiders, hunting for great deals, gambling, and shooting the breeze with anyone lucky enough to cross his path. Above all, he cherished time with his family and friends.

John is survived by his loving wife Donna of 54 years; his sister Martha; his three sons Johnny, Scott, and Todd; and his six grandchildren Izabella, Lyla, Jameson, Hunter, Tyler, and Pepper. He is also survived by extended family and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Nadine and Oscar, his stepfather Robert, and his sister Virginia.

John touched countless lives with his kindness, humor, and generosity. His legacy of perseverance, love, and hard-earned success will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Services with John’s family will be held on Friday, June 5, at 2:00 p.m. at O’Connor Mortuary Chapel. A celebration of John’s life with extended family and friends will be held this summer, with details to follow.
