Obituary

John Michael Holman was a native Californian, born in Pasadena July 11, 1950. He was raised in San Clemente where he surfed and excelled in an array of sports including baseball and karate. He met his wife Kathy in High School and decided he would learn to ride horses so he could spend more time with her. They moved to San Juan Capistrano in 1973 where they raised their son Josh and mentored many other children that came to the Ortega Equestrian Center for lessons. John was fortunate enough to be a member of two riding groups, El Viaje de Portola and Las Tortugas. He made many friends and spent many happy hours at the Ortega Equestrian Center and on Rancho Mission Viejo.

John died March 19, 2015 after 19 years of complications from a virus. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, his pride and joy, his son Josh, his daughter-in-law Lisa and his two grandchildren, Jacob & Sydney whom he adored. John’s love of life, family, good food, riding and hunting is something to celebrate. His laughter, one liners and friendship will be missed forever. His family, along with his many friends, will miss him very much.
