   Thomas Family,

   I am writing to extend our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

   I was so very sad to hear about your father, he was such a wonderful man. I know that this must be a very difficult time for all of you. I know that your father shared a special relationship with all of you. The pain you are feeling is a symbol of how much your father will be missed.

   I had the greatest respect for John K and will miss him more than you will know; after all, he was my adopted dad and my son’s adopted grandfather. His generous nature, sense of humor and kind heart are attributes that I hope are instilled in my own sons. We are all better people for having known and loved him.

   I wanted all of you to know that we will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks.

   Again, you have our deepest sympathies on the loss of your dear father.
