John Usyk was born on July 26, l933 and left us too soon at the age of 83. He was the baby of six children born to Mary and Nicholas Usyk. John lived in the Philadelphia area until the age of 25 and then moved to Wenonah, New Jersey.
He served in the United Sates Army from 1951 to 1953 and in the reserve until 1961. He attended the University of Pennsylvania. In 1966 he was offered a position in Florida with Burdines’s Department Stores now Macy’s. He advanced to Vice President of Operations.
John took an early retirement after which Monsignor Noel Fogarty of St. Gregory the Great Parish in Plantation, FL invited him to serve as parish manager which he did for many years. He was devoted to his faith.
In 2011 he and the love of his life Patricia moved to Mission Viejo, CA. John had a zest for life and enjoyed his family, careers and the many friends he made during his lifetime. He inspired everyone by the way he dealt with Parkinson’s disease. He truly was the wind beneath our wings. We will miss him in a million ways.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; son John and daughter Katherine Forrester; two grandchildren Shane Patrick and Nicole; son-in-law Michael; and his brother-in-law Daniel Furlong and family.
