Obituary

John Jerome Lippeatt, 82, beloved father, husband, grandfather and friend, was born on April 27, 1929, in Sullivan, Indiana and died on April 21, 2012 in Lake Forest, California.

John grew up in Indiana, and served four years in the U.S. Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge in 1955. He earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from Indiana University, and moved with his wife Rosalind to Southern California in 1960. John worked for 30 years at Santa Ana High School as a history and government teacher. He continued to pursue and share his passions for history, current events, music, gardening and humor up until his passing.

John is survived by his wife, Rosalind; son David; daughter Laura; daughter-in-law Claudia; sister Eleanor Shea; grandchildren Sophia, Olivia, Sean and Lucas; and nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 26, at 11:00 am, at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church on Marguerite Road and Estanciero in Mission Viejo, CA. Burial with military honors will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest, CA.
