Vickie and family, I will always cherish the moment when John & I discovered a few years ago that he was in the Air Force on Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa in 1968, the same year I was a teacher at Kadena Elementary School. John & I kept saying we needed to share photos of our experiences. I am so grateful that he shared his Okinawa & Kadena photos with me last year when I visited him at Hoag. Then, I was so grateful John, Betty, and you saw the many photos I shared at your home in late December. How incredible that as I was showing my photos on your TV screen, John mentioned that he never got a photo of his barracks building on Kadena which was painted pink. Just as he told us about his pink barracks, I shared the attached photo of the barracks I took during Christmas season on Okinawa. John said, “Yes, that’s where I lived on Kadena.” 🙂 Only God knew that I would meet wonderful John and his great family about 40 years later!

I share in the grief and sorrow of my partner, George at the loss of his brother John. May Almighty God in His infinite mercy heal the wounds of misunderstanding which has caused the love of two brothers to be clouded and hearts of family hardened and confused, be lightened and renewed in the Christ we profess.

Since I was not permitted at my brothers funeral service in Irvine, CA two services have been performed in New Mexico, a Holy Sacrifice of a Mass was held at Risen Savior Catholic Community in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Feb 7, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. and a Memorial Service was performed on Feb. 16, 2014 after the Sunday Mass at Our Lady In the Valley Episcopal Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. May his family in California find Peace and Love!
