Obituary

O’Brien, John F.  (Jack)
Jan 4 1936 – Feb 4 2021

It is with great sadness we share that on Feb 4, 2021, Jack , 85, passed away peacefully.

He was surrounded by his devoted wife, Helene; his adoring children, Lori & Susan; his beloved grandchildren, Kelsey & Ryan; and his wonderful sons-in-law, Richard & Robert.

Jack flew the KC-135 Air Refueling tanker as a Captain in the Air Force, and followed that with a 30 year career as a Pilot for American Airlines, mostly as a Captain on the DC-10. After a  brief retirement, he spent almost 7 years instructing in the flight simulator for the Boeing Aircraft Company.

His was a life well lived, and full of love. Jack will be greatly missed by all, and will live forever in our hearts.

Rest In Peace My Love.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated … thank you.

  1. Remembering Mr. O’Brien with a full and happy heart. Sending love and prayers to all the family. Mrs. O’Brien, Susan, Rob, Kelsey, Ryan, Lori, and Richard, I am there with you, in spirit, celebrating Mr. O’Brien, and his beautiful life. May peace be with you, and may memories lift your hearts. All my love to you, Jen xoxoxo

  2. Dennis and I have such fond memories of your Dad, Lori. He was one of those people that was so full of life and so entertaining that the first impression is still vivid after 24 years. You and Richard took us to visit them on our first trip see you in California in 1997. It was testimony to how close you were to them and how proud you were to show them off. We were so pleased when you could arrange other get-togethers with them in our many visits over the years.
The better the parent, the harder it is to lose them but the memories grow brighter and happier with the passage of time.
    Cathy and Dennis Johnson

  3. Jack was literally Mr. Congeniality! Always smiling. Always happy to see you. He sincerely wanted to know how you were doing instead of just talking about himself. He also wanted to know how your kids were doing. He was also a good storyteller and usually had a joke for you!
