Obituary

O’Brien, John F.  (Jack)
Jan 4 1936 – Feb 4 2021

It is with great sadness we share that on Feb 4, 2021, Jack , 85, passed away peacefully.

He was surrounded by his devoted wife, Helene; his adoring children, Lori & Susan; his beloved grandchildren, Kelsey & Ryan; and his wonderful sons-in-law, Richard & Robert.

Jack flew the KC-135 Air Refueling tanker as a Captain in the Air Force, and followed that with a 30 year career as a Pilot for American Airlines, mostly as a Captain on the DC-10. After a  brief retirement, he spent almost 7 years instructing in the flight simulator for the Boeing Aircraft Company.

His was a life well lived, and full of love. Jack will be greatly missed by all, and will live forever in our hearts.

Rest In Peace My Love.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated … thank you.

  1. I always will remember how Uncle Jack made me feel so comfortable, happy and special. Ioved his laugh and joy of life. i remember bragging to my friends that i had a really cool uncle who was a pilot! Visiting his and Aunt Helene’s home in California was always a treat because i got to spend time with them and Lori and Susan! spending time in NY on Lyon Avenue was just as fun! Fly free and soar with the Angels.

I hope you are walking through a sea of four leaf clovers in colors that we don’t have here up there in Heaven.

He will always be Mr. O’Brien to me and I loved his happy smile and laugh€ His daughter Lori and I were besties growing up and he always made me feel special and welcome in his home when I came over.
When we were in brownies together, Mr O’Brien took our whole troop to the airport for a tour. It was such an adventure to take a tour behind the scenes and to sit in the cockpit with his Captain hat on.
I loved his Catholic faith and I know he is in heaven I see him as a captain of all the angels and I’m sure he will be watching over his family that he loved so dearly. Mr. O’Brien you will be missed here on earth but as God has promised we will see you again in heaven Love, Donna Pikula (Lach)
