Obituary

O’Brien, John F.  (Jack)
Jan 4 1936 – Feb 4 2021

It is with great sadness we share that on Feb 4, 2021, Jack , 85, passed away peacefully.

He was surrounded by his devoted wife, Helene; his adoring children, Lori & Susan; his beloved grandchildren, Kelsey & Ryan; and his wonderful sons-in-law, Richard & Robert.

Jack flew the KC-135 Air Refueling tanker as a Captain in the Air Force, and followed that with a 30 year career as a Pilot for American Airlines, mostly as a Captain on the DC-10. After a  brief retirement, he spent almost 7 years instructing in the flight simulator for the Boeing Aircraft Company.

His was a life well lived, and full of love. Jack will be greatly missed by all, and will live forever in our hearts.

Rest In Peace My Love.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated … thank you.

  1. We had the pleasure to know Jack, and what a special heart you have. He was quiet the flirt, but in a great way. He alway made you feel special; never to take away from Helene. We all know that they were true sole mates. They were so playful. Boy did they loved the Los Angels Lakers. What ever they did together was always together. We are going to miss you. It’s not over, I know that because you are now an Angel. We love you

  2. Sharon Weiss says:

Uncle Jack had the greatest laugh and I loved his wittiness! I always looked up to him and thought he was quite a big deal being a pilot! I feel very lucky to have had him as my Uncle

  3. Jack, a true friend, a heart full of generosity and a man of great humor and intelligence. Whether we all danced at age 15 in the Bronx, or were at a beach in Los Angeles, or having one of Helene’s exquisite meals in San Juan Capistrano, Jack was the best companion. He was full of fun and a very special man.
Rest in Peace. Love, Adele and George Robertson
