  1. John was part of “Our Family” – the Kings’ Couples family KC that formed in 1958 – an original group of 16 couples who met once a month for almost 50 years. Our memories contain the warm friendships, laughter, joy, celebrations and sorrow that were apparent in our dinner meetings. John was always so complimentary to Fred & me and showed such an interest in my two daughters. We laughed & cried together those 50 years as we welcomed new births 2 of the most exciting was when the Cabell twin boys were born, watching them grow into brilliant young men, then graduations, weddings and now memorial services. We know that John is now reunited with his beloved wife, Isabelle Isy.
My warm thoughts and prayers will be with you on December 10th and January 23rd. I would love to be with you but traveling over 1,000 mi. round trip now becomes less as the years fly by.
God bless you, Dale and Doug, & families.

  2. Memories of my dear Uncle John….No Sherrard Family holiday gathering was complete without the warm, comforting presence of Uncle John. Like a Christmas sweater, he radiated good cheer and blessed those around him. No pretenses, he was always glad to see Jim-Jam, as he called me all my life. Couldn’t get enough of those Dodgers, Angels, and Rams! John was our clan’s sports fan extraordinaire. More than that, my Uncle John was a Christian gentleman. I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone, and to know John was to be his friend. We missed him terribly these past few years, and now we are comforted in knowing that he is with the Lord he loved.

It has been a pleasure to know John during this past decade, since Doug and Tracy have been married. He was always a gentleman with a caring way. It was fun to see him enjoy meals at Tracy and Doug’s when we were there. Sometimes, he didn’t think he was very hungry, but he enjoyed the food so very much, plus the companionship of his loved ones. It was apparent he truly was having a grand time.

He was proud of his sons, Doug and Dale, and also of his dear granddaughter, Justine.

Wally and I send our most sincere sympathy to all of John’s family and friends. We enjoyed so much knowing both John and Isabel, Doug’s fine parents.

I will be missing my Uncle John… He is the best. I always enjoyed the opportunities I had to visit with him. He was truly a special man and will be missed by all who loved him.

  5. Uncle John you will be missed. Your gentle soul and teasing ways. You were always happy to see us “northern” part of the family and welcomed us in. I can take comfort in the fact you are with Aunt Izzy in heaven and greeted with the warmth of the Sherrard clan that is ever growing this year. It must be like the old days up there now.

My thoughts and prayers are with you boys. Please know that you are dear to us.
