Obituary

Fierce competitor and lover of life, John Donald Eppich returned to Our Lord on June 8th, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife Mary Eloise Eppich and all six children Don, Teri, Kevin, Kristin, Kathy and Keith. John was born on December 11, 1936 and spent his childhood in Walpole, MA as an only child. Being a very social guy, John decided early in life that he wanted to have a large family to be surrounded by a lot of energy, action and laughter.

After meeting at a Valentine’s Day dance in Sacramento, John and Mary got married and started their family, living in Sacramento, Vermont, Orange County, and Palm Desert over the years. Together John and Mary created a happy and loving home for their six children and he relished large family gatherings and the re-telling of favorite family stories from a lifetime of cross-country road trips and camping. His legacy continues with thirteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Anyone who knew John knows that he liked to be the one in charge: coaching soccer teams, leading Boy Scout Troops, lectoring at Mass on Sundays, and directing the parish festivals. Professionally, John positively impacted our environment by masterminding technology for renewable energy from landfill waste.

He will be dearly missed, but his family finds comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering, resting in peace with Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Memorial mass will be performed June 14, 2021 at 10am at St. Kilian’s Church in Mission Viejo, CA. Visitation will be at O’Connor Mortuary Laguna Hills, CA on Sunday, June 13 from 2-4 pm.
