Joann L. Holt passed away on November 20, 2008, after losing her courageous battle with cancer. She was 65 years old. She is survived by her loving husband, Leonard; sons, Robert Shoemaker and his wife Pamela, Jon Holt, Darren Holt and his wife Jeanne; sisters, Donna Hale, Louise Szczesiak; brother, Jack Rand; grandchildren, Kenrick and Valerie Shoemaker, and James Holt; and her best friend who she loved as a sister, Linda Marozick.
Joann was born in Wilmington, Delaware to Francis and John Szczesiak and moved with her family to California as a teenager. She retired as residence manager for Developmental Services at Fairview Hospital. Joann enjoyed crafts of all kinds, especially canning jellies, sewing and scrapbooking. All of us will miss her sweet jelly. She was known as the crafty lady to all of her friends. She was an active member of the Riviera Club, and had served as president, but she excelled as the person who planned and organized trips for their members. She enjoyed going to new places and had traveled all over the world with her husband. She especially enjoyed cruise ships. She loved dancing, bridge and the theater.
She loved her family, and was truly a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother; mentor to all, but especially to her cherished grandchildren. She will live on in the hearts and memories of all of those she loved. The family wishes to thank Vitas Hospice Care and the many friends who supported and assisted them during her illness.
