JoAn Lawrence McDonald
January 13, 1927 – May 7, 2021

JoAn Lawrence McDonald went home to be with the Lord on May 7, 2021 in Laguna Beach, CA at the age of 94. Born January 13, 1927 in Long Beach, California to Henry and Esther Lawrence. At University of Arizona, she met and married William W. McDonald after graduation in June 1948. They settled in Long Beach where she taught elementary school and raised 6 kids. Having moved to Laguna Niguel she became active in Catholic Charities and served in various ministries at St. Edward. It is there she co-established Christian Service Office. She was a longtime member of PEO, an international philanthropic women’s organization. JoAn was preceded in death by her former husband William (Bill).  She is survived by her son Michael McDonald and her daughters Kathleen McDonald (Hal), Janette Taylor (Paul), Eileen McDonald, Laurie McMahon (Steve), and Susan Tobia (Kevin); and grandchildren Krista Taylor, Thomas McMahon, Megan McMahon, Nicole Tobia, and Connor Tobia.

JoAn’s Memorial Service is May 18, 2021 at Saint Edward Catholic Church in Dana Point, CA at 11 am, and can be viewed at StEdwardMass.com, with a private interment at a later date.
