Joan Mary Coverdale, 74, of Lake Forest, CA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 24 after attempting to recover from removal of a brain tumor. Joan was born January 24, 1938 to Edmund and Sophie Brand in St. Paul, MN, received her RN from St. Gabriel’s in Little Falls, MN and her BS from St. Francis University. She practiced her nursing skills in Minnesota at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport, Heineken Brewery and in California at FHP HMO serving as a nursing coordinator, at CPC as a psychiatric nurse, and OC Health Dept. in ETS as a psychiatric nurse. She is survived by her husband Daniel of 52 years; three brothers, Joseph Brand of White Bear Lake, MN, Edmund Brand of Brainerd, MN, and Michael Brand of Bloomington, MN.

Joan always loved animals, especially cats and dogs as well as enjoyed the outdoors with biking and hiking in the mountains and hills in southern California and the Eastern Sierras.

Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, August 14 at O’Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills, CA.
