Obituary
Jessie Mary ‘June’ Pollock, a long-time resident of the Lake Forest area, died Monday the 28th of September at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center.
Born in 1923 in Motherwell, Scotland, June received her Nursing degree at 18 and served in Britain for many years, including as a nurse during WWll. In 1958 June emigrated to the United States with her husband and infant son, and continued her work as a nurse at Henry Ford Hospital, Michigan. Tired of the cold and snow, she moved her family to Southern California in 1959, and in 1963 they moved to El Toro and became some of the first few residents in the El Toro area. June lived the rest of her life in the same home they started out in.
Her nursing career spanned five decades and included service at Western Medical Center Santa Ana, Mission Hospital and San Clemente Hospital. Her nursing career was followed by years of community service. In 1974 she opened and operated June’s Uniforms in Mission Viejo where she worked until her retirement in 1998.
June loved travel, good food and socializing, enjoyed going to movies and events. She had a sharp mind, quick wit and sense of humor that made everyone laugh, Though sometimes difficult and challenging, she had a fantastic journey through life.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Pollock and many relatives and friends, all who miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held 9a.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church, Laguna Woods, followed by burial at Ascension Cemetery, Lake Forest. Arrangements are being handled by O’Connor Funeral Home, Laguna Hills.
