  1. Dear Pierog Family,
I am so deeply saddened by the news of Jessica’s passing. I only found out yesterday 10/27/20. As the EM clerkship director and interview committee member at LVHN, I remember when she interviewed for our residency program and mentioned that she played tennis and attended Wellesley College, my mother’s alma mater. I was delighted when she matched with us in 2005. Now I had someone to play tennis with who was good! Jessica called me during the summer of 2005 and asked if I wanted to see the Beach Boys at Musikfest. This is a popular music festival that occurs annually in Bethlehem, PA. I was working, but my wife went instead with a girlfriend. Not knowing Jessica’s personal connection to the Beach Boys, my wife met her at the hotel where the Beach Boys were staying. Jessica introduced her to the entire band and arranged for her to be on stage with the Beach Boys during the concert. A memory she will never forget. “One of the best times of my life”, my wife said. Jessica was a great tennis player and competitor. We played several times and she ran me around the court. Jessica worked extremely hard and cared deeply about her patients. We had many long conversations about how she could be a better doctor. Upon graduation she gave me a large bottle of wine with the label “Conundrum” and said, “think of me when you drink this.” She spoke of her sister Margaux and that she was a sommelier. I tried to reach out to Jessica several times the past few years without success. I will never forget you Jessica. All of your Lehigh Valley family grieve your loss.

    Sincerely,

    Chuck Worrilow

  3. I am saddened to hear of Jessica’s passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Jessica and I attended medical school together and then caravanned to the east coast for internship…the following year I became a resident with Jessica at LVHN ED residency. Jessica was so full of life and she would do anything for you. May memories of Jessica shine bright.

  4. I always enjoyed working with Jessica at Stanford’s ED. She treated me as a friend as well as a colleague especially in Pediatrics where she knew I had far more experience as a Peds Critical Care Nurse and she honored that, as I honored her clinical brilliance and upbeat spirit! She was all about sharing knowledge and giving the best care to patients and their families. A bright, beautiful, tolerant and generous woman, I remember how her medical mission work humbled her and touched her life tremendously. I also saw another side of Jessica, her spiritual side, as I would see her at Mass and she would wink as I offered her Communion and would wait just to exchange greetings on the steps of St Thomas Aquinas Church in Palo Alto. I just heard of her passing today and was so surprised and sad… I feel it a privilege to have known and to have worked with her. My sincere sympathies to all her families! God bless you!
