    Jim and Linda,

I was just thinking of Jessica and how we would occasionally reconnect and chat.

We always had open and wonderfully unfiltered conversations. I lost a close confidant and friend when she left Stanford. I wanted to reach out when she passed, but I didn’t feel that the moment was right.

I always think of you two when I think of her. I still remember my internship with Linda at Mission after my Freshman year of college.

My thoughts and love to you both.

  3. I mentored Dr Pierog in her research while she was a resident in our Emergency Medicine Program. It was a privilege to work with such a dedicated, hardworking, and committed woman. She was a credit to our scholarly output and my heart goes out to her loved ones as they process this incredible loss.

  4. Jess was a brilliant resident with us at Lehigh Valley and a bundle of energy. Her passing was terribly sad news. In my thirty years as an emergency physician, she was one of my favorite residents. The world lost a burst of sunshine in a person and an outstanding physician. Rest in peace my friend.

I am so sorry for your loss and my deepest condolences to the Pierog family. I met Jess in Manhattan many years ago, I forget exactly when, but it was in the 2000s I’m sure. She was wearing a baseball hat and shorts, so it must have been warm out. I was immediately struck by her spirit, energy and enthusiasm for life. We exchanged numbers and talked of meeting in Lehigh PA where she was based at the time. It was quite a long drive for me, being from Manhattan, and I had other business in the area. As it turns out we were unable to meet in Lehigh. My last text with her was on Nov 11, 2012 where she texted me her Stanford.edu email address. I replied to her but we never corresponded beyond that. I thought of her as I was searching my phone messages, and decided to google. I’m so sorry to have learned of your loss just now and have been searching my brain for recollection of how we met. Reading the guestbook I see how many people she touched in her life and I am one of them, albeit just a distant acquaintance. I am sending you all the positive vibes I can muster and sending a prayer in her memory.
