Obituary

Drummond, Jesse James (Age 86)
July 10, 1929 – Nov. 20, 2015
Mission Viejo, CA

Jesse Drummond died peacefully in his home on the morning of Nov. 20, 2015.

Born and raised in New York City, he later moved to Los Angeles to further his life long career in Advertising. He was active in the church (Mother of Good Counsel) and charitable organizations.

He continued dabbling in the Ad business after retiring and moving to Orange County.

His number one passion in life was his family. Other passions included water color painting, golfing, setting up his train set at Christmas time, spending time at the beach and jumping into one creative project after the next.

He will be remembered by all for his sense of humor, giving spirit and thoughtfulness. He was always thinking of ways to make people happy.

He is preceded in death by his twin brother Freddie and older brother Kenneth. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia, Children; Joanne, Virginia (Tommy), Susan, (Ken) James, and John (Nancy) and 13 grandchildren.

His loss to our lives will be immeasurable. It will certainly be easy to have a smile come to our faces and laugh when remembering him and his antics.

  1. Jesse was a talented guy. We always await and enjoy his wonderful Christmas cards. Your family will be in our prayers. He will be missed by all who knew him and we share your sorrow, Love Kimo and Linda

  2. My memory, hearing Tom talk about “his rich uncle from Hollywood.” Jesse was a character, he loved that I was fooled about the computer coming thru the wall….I will always remember him. All my love and hugs to Pat and the family.

“Death leaves a heartache that no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal” From an Irish Tombstone.
A painter doesn’t dream of riches and fame, though those things are nice. A true painter longs to leave behind a piece of themselves, something that withstands the test of time and is passed down for generations. Jesse, you were not just a creative artist, who left us beautiful images to remember you by, but a caring, warmhearted, devoted husband and father who leaves a legacy of love for your greatest achievement, your family. I’ll look for your canvas in the sky. Farewell Jesse, Love, Amelia

  4. My father was always willing to give away a smile. My Uncle Freddie, my father’s twin introduced this poem to us many many years ago. They both loved it as do I.
    They are together now smiling.
    The Value of A Smile

It costs nothing, but creates much. It enriches those who receive, without impoverishing those who give. It happens in a flash and the memory of it can last forever. None are so rich they can get along without it, and none so poor but are richer for its benefits. It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign of friends. It is rest to the weary, daylight to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and Nature’s best antidote for trouble. Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that has earthly value until it is given away. So if in the last-minute rush of the day, someone should be too tired to give a smile, give them one of yours. For nobody needs a smile so much as those who have none left to give!

Jessie painted a caricature of one of my hot rods that I proudly display in my workshop. Thanks Jessie…you will always be remembered.
