Obituary

Jerry Wayne Temple lost his battle with colon cancer on April 7, 2010, with his family by his side. Jerry was born on November 17, 1950 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Alton and Evelyn Temple. At an early age, his family moved to Mar Vista, California where he attended Short Avenue Elementary School and Marina Del Rey Junior High School. Upon graduation from Venice High School, Jerry was drafted into the Army. He served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1972. Jerry began his career with GTE and continued on with Verizon, where he loyally worked in special services for 40 years. He met the love of his life, Teresa Galvan, in 1987. They married in 1991 and welcomed their son, Juan Diego Temple, into the world in 1994. Jerry loved to cook for his family and friends, enjoy a good baseball game and spend time with his son.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Teresa, his son, Juan Diego, his sister, Mary Ann Manning, and her husband, Don, his brother, Robert and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Alton and George.

A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 9:30 am, with internment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery 5835 Slauson Avenue, Culver City, California 90230. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juan Diego Temple Scholarship Fund, care of US Bank, 27529 Puerta Real, Mission Viejo, California, 92691, 949 348-3575.
