LAWRENCE, JERRY PAULSEN

Jerry Paulsen Lawrence, 75, passed away on January 15, 2015 at home in San Juan Capistrano, CA where he lived with Shareen, his devoted wife of 55 years. Jerry was born on June 3, 1939 in San Diego, CA to Vernon and Margaret Lawrence. He grew up with his sister Nancy (Lawrence) Breitbarth in San Diego and Ontario, CA.

In 1959, Jerry married Shareen Hodge and they settled in Ontario, and then Upland, where they raised five children, Patricia Lawrence Masters, Jerry Philip Lawrence, Janet Lawrence Quirk, Francine Lawrence Salas, and Julie Ann Lawrence Williams.

Jerry was a graduate of Chaffey High School in Ontario and Pomona College in Claremont, CA. He was a manufacturing engineer working for various companies including General Dynamics, Xerox, and Masimo. An avid backpacker and rock climber, Jerry also worked for several outdoor outfitters where he designed industry innovative backpacks for Alpenlite. Jerry was an Eagle Scout, and volunteered his time with many organizations including Boy Scouts of America, Junior Achievement and The Sierra Club where he taught courses such as Basic Mountaineering and First Aid. Jerry was an avid narrow gauge railroad model designer and builder, published in numerous model enthusiast magazines.

Jerry is survived by his wife Shareen, their five children, 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a large, loving extended family.
