With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jeffrey Peter DuChateau, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who left us on July 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma. Born in California on August 1, 1966, Jeff was the youngest of six boys.

Jeff was a proud resident of Lake Forest, CA, graduating from El Toro High School in 1984. He cultivated a fulfilling career in the commercial real estate industry, where he built a reputation for integrity and excellence. Jeff’s professional life was characterized by his unwavering commitment to his clients and colleagues.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jeff dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his family, never missing a game, school event, or dance competition. He was the ultimate cheerleader and coach, embodying the spirit of support and encouragement as he led his children through their passions. Whether coaching Jeffrey Jr., Angeline, and Jacob on the baseball field or embracing the role of dance dad when his daughter Abigayle chose the stage over the diamond, he put his heart and soul into his kids.

His faith in Jesus Christ deepened during his illness, illuminating his ultimate purposes in life: to love others as Jesus loves, to draw his family even closer together, and to model a strength that was inspiring to all who knew him. An avid fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Dodgers, he enjoyed every moment cheering for his favorite teams. His passion for community service was evident in his roles as a long-time Little League coach, manager, umpire, trainer, and mentor, where he found great joy in fostering a love for baseball among young athletes. His love of both the people and the game was infectious, and his drive and determination to always be his best earned him the distinction of being a three-time Western US Region Championship umpire.

Jeff is survived by his cherished wife of 40 years, Cheri, and his loving children—Jeffrey Jr., Angeline, Abigayle and Jacob. He also leaves behind his daughter-in-law Claudia and son-in-law Matthew, whom he was proud to claim as his own. To Jeffrey III and Camila, he was not just a grandfather, but a remarkable Opa who brought love, joy, and laughter into their lives. Jeff is also survived by his brothers Rick, Rob, and Ron.

Jeff’s legacy is one of compassion, generosity, and kindness, which endeared him to all who knew him. He taught his loved ones the values of hard work, understanding, and unconditional love. He was a man who lived by the values of God, family, and community, always striving to give back, do more, and be better. In his final days, Jeffrey faced his battle with Glioblastoma with courage and grace. His family wishes to share that he never gave up fighting and found strength in his faith. Jeffrey's life journey is now complete, and he rests free of pain in the arms of Jesus. As we bid farewell, let us remember Jeff not only for his struggles but also for the immense love he shared and the lives he touched. May his spirit continue to inspire us to cherish our families and embrace life with passion and purpose.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joan DuChateau, as well as his brothers Randy and John.

A service to celebrate Jeffrey's life will be held on September 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Jeffrey's memory to the Western Region Little League Baseball, honoring his dedication to youth sports and community service. Jeffrey's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support and love during this difficult time. His life was a blessing, and his memory will be cherished forever.
