Obituary

The perfect husband, father, son, brother and friend, Jeff Johnson, passed away on the evening of March 15thsurrounded by those he loved most-his wife, all six of his children and his sister Stephanie.

Born October 14th, 1964, in Encino, California to Albert and Gayle Johnson. He happily and enthusiastically took upon himself the role of ensuring that his two younger sisters, Stephanie and Janelle, stayed in line. It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for Jeff to flip the breakers of their home while his sisters were watching TV on a Saturday morning if the chores hadn’t been completed beforehand. It was with his parents and his sisters that he cultivated the huge heart that he became known for.

Jeff was a collector of incredible accolades. He was an intelligent businessman and had a prolific career in the finance and mortgage industry. However, two of his most fascinating accomplishments include being the recipient of the “Best Tan Line Award” after a dive-gone-wrong at a high school swim meet and the Supra he drove in college that required two jobs to afford. The ridiculous monthly car payment was something he wisely withheld when he imparted stories of his work ethic to his kids.

He was never a shy man which was proved when pictures of his underwear modeling ad were plastered all over campus, something he looked back on with great pride.

Above all, the pride of Jeff’s life is found with the loves of his life-his wife and kids. Every single thing he did was for his family. He himself wrote, “Each day as I see my wife and kids, from the time we get up to bedtime, I want nothing more than to provide all I can for them. I want all life has to offer. I love them so much my heart simply aches with joy”. That love was evident. Jeff greeted his family with bear hugs and kisses on the cheek whenever they came home and never let them leave without telling them he loved them. Random people on the street were not safe from Jeff gushing about how proud he was of his kids. This was a type of love that was larger than life, as was the man who freely and happily shared it.

Jeff was also a father to everyone who came into his home, whether they wanted it or not! Jeff made it clear that the deluge boys who were seemingly always in the pool or basement were to be and act like men, and he had no problem teaching and showing them what that looked like. It sometimes took a sopping wet paper towel to the face on a Saturday morning to get the kids and their friends moving, but everyone always walked a little taller and a little tanner due to the time spent doing the household chores that they did together.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Gayle, his little sister, Janelle, and his young sons, Duncan, Holden, Roman and Easton. We wish we had a front seat to those joyous reunions. He is survived by his extraordinary wife, Monet, his sister, Stephanie (Terry), and his children, Braxton, Calvin (Kelsey), Dylan, Hayden, Preston, Etienne, his grandson, Wynn, and his beloved dog, Siku (let’s be honest, she’s the favorite child.)

The perfect day for Jeff was making a big breakfast with his kids, going on a long walk with the dog (even though he was adamant that he never wanted any pets), and then eating popcorn, apples and cheese with his kids while watching a black and white monster movie. He loves his family through and through.

He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have him in their lives.
