Jeannette Julia
Ryder
January 1, 1927 – February 17, 2008
Jeannette Ryder
She was born on New Year's Day, 1927, and the world was never the same.
Jeannette lived her childhood in the Bay Area during the Great Depression, and was a teenager during World War II. Always a good student, especially in the business/secretarial areas that took off in the post-war years, she held secretarial jobs for a series of businesses during the 50's.
But she found time to fall in love with and marry John Ryder in 1954–and 5 years later her only son, Dan, was born. A move to the South Bay area of Los Angeles came later–and work for the county of Los Angeles, which she held for almost 25 years.
Jeannette retired and enjoyed life, staying involved in various hobbies and pursuing interests such as the theater, movies, and even twice traveling to Argentina to visit her family there. She loved animals, 40's swing and big band music, and was a voracious reader.
She passed away at Kaiser Permanente in Harbor City on Sunday, February 17th, and is survived by her brother, Wendell Marin, her son Dan, two nephews and three grandchildren.
