Obituary

Jeanne LaForte Weekley
1917- 2005

Erma ‘Jeanne’ Weekley nee LaForte, loving mother, passed away on July 3rd at the age of 88.

Born in Passaic, New Jersey, she spent most of her adult life in Orange County, Ca. where she gave birth to her only child, Gary Bolen.

Having worked for nearly 40 years as an administrative assistant, at retirement she indulged her talents as an artist by creating beautiful floral and landscape oil paintings. During her retirement, she also discovered a love and talent for writing short children’s stories. Although unpublished, she was able to share these wondrous tales by volunteering as a teacher’s assistant in kindergartens in Mission Viejo, Ca. where she lived for nearly thirty years before moving to Monterey.

Jeanne’s true passions in life were her extended family and her son to whom she was eternally devoted and loving. Even at the end of her life when communication was difficult, her eyes would open wider at the sound of the names of any of her beloved family. She was preceded in death by her mother Jennie LaForte and older brother Frank LaForte. She is survived by her son, Gary Bolen and his wife, Sherie; her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Joseph Settineri of Upper Saddle River, NJ and their sons Joseph and Thomas; her brother and sister-in-law, Horace and Margaret LaForte of Anaheim Hills, Ca. and their children Marisa and Fred and her uncle Victor LaCagnina and cousins Nancy Paterno and Marie Barbieri, all of whom she deeply loved and missed.

Services were held at the O?Connor Funeral Home in Laguna Hills, Ca. on Saturday, July 9th with internment immediately following at Ascension Cemetery in El Toro. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Morgan Stock Theatre Arts Trust c/o Monterey Peninsula College, 980 Fremont Street, Monterey, Ca. 93940 or the VNA and Hospice, P.O. box 2480, Monterey, Ca. 93942.
