Jeanne Marie D'Emidio passed away on March 17, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 7, 1933 in Dickson City, PA to Josephine Marshalek. As a young child, she was adopted by Walter Gerlock and raised in Scranton, PA. She graduated from Technical High School in Scranton, then received her Registered Nursing (RN) Degree from Temple University in Pennsylvania.
Jeanne is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph N. D'Emidio. She is survived by her children, Donna Marie, Paul, Carmella and her spouse John, Michael, and Walter and his spouse Kim.
She was a devoted and loving grandmother to her grandchildren who brought her so much joy: Russell and his wife Jennie, Dustin and his wife Season, Kendra, Patrick, Krysta, Spencer and his wife Morgan, Samantha, Nanceen, Anthony, and Cam. Also surviving are her late husband's children: Joseph and his wife MaryLou, Dyan, and David and his wife Mary Kate as well as his grandchildren, Timothy and his wife Emily, Matthew, Jennifer and her spouse Trevor, Christine, and Olivia and her spouse Cameron, and his great-granddaughter, Lucia. Jeanne was formerly married to the late Ronald D. Galli of Dunmore, PA.
Jeanne spent her career as an RN working in hospitals, rotating through many specialties but finding her greatest enjoyment on the Psych wards. While constanfly moving due to Ronald's career, she also raised her family of five children and was active in their activities, including being a Cub Scout Leader and a Girl Scout leader. There was always a pot of food cooking on the stove big enough to include any visiting friends; and the family home was open to everyone. She loved crafts of all kinds including sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She took up freehand oil painting, giving her paintings to family and friends. She was an avid gardener, even propagating her own plants. She loved photography and always had a camera in her hand. She participated in bowling leagues, took flying lessons, and even rode motorcycles.
She had a love of all kinds of dancing, with a special passion for square dancing. She formed a singles square dance club, which is where she met the love of her life, Joseph D'Emidio. After they were maried she moved to his hometown of Bristol, PA where she actively volunteered in the community. She was an active participant as a Lioness and also served on the Board of the Bristol Cultural & Historical Foundation.
Jeanne and Joseph enjoyed traveling and traveled all over dancing on cruise ships, at conventions, and even down Disneyland's Main Street.
She loved her family and was always saying "that makes my heart happy!" when anyone did something special.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Long Beach, California on April 12, 2026. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann's Church in Bristol, PA on April 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM. lnterment will be at the Catholic Cemetery in Scranton, PA on April 25, 2026 at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to attend all events.
ln lieu of flowers, donations to Jeanne's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital are suggested.
