Obituary

Jean R Dalton
May 9, 1924 – December 4, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jean Dalton on December 4, 2020.  She was 96 years old.

Born in Millville, New Jersey in 1924, Jean was the daughter of the late Horace & Valeria Rubert.  She had two siblings Edgar and Vivian.  After graduating high school, Jean attended Methodist Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated with a Registered Nursing Degree. She practiced nursing for over 30 years. Her love and compassion for people was evident to everyone who knew her.

Jean married the love of her life John F. Dalton, Jr, (Jack) in 1947.  They enjoyed 62 wonderful years together.  They lived in Millville and were blessed with four children.  They enjoyed being with their family and friends, trips to the Jersey shore, and playing bridge.   In 1991 they retired to Florida to enjoy the warm weather and sunshine.  Soon after arriving in Florida, Jean was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She fought hard and survived the battle.  They enjoyed their retirement years together until her beloved Jack passed in 2009.  In 2018 after recovering from a stroke, Jean moved to California to be close to her daughter Joan and her family.

Jean was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  She loved her family more than words can describe and they adored her.  She was loving, kind, strong, smart, beautiful and spunky.   She had a gift for making everyone feel special.   She enjoyed singing, dancing, walks on the beach, cooking, but most of all it was time spent with family and friends that made her the happiest.

Jean is survived by her son John Dalton (Susanne), daughter Joan Nadel (Paul), son Joseph Dalton, daughter-in-law Sue, and sister Vivian.  She has seven   grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Jean was predeceased by her loving husband Jack and son James Dalton.

She will be missed but never forgotten, her endless love, positive attitude, love of life will be with us forever.

Due to COVID, a Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
