Jay Arthur Varga was 72 years of age when he passed away at his home in Rancho Santa Margarita November 10th 2021.
The cause of death was a cancer that he had been fighting for over 7 and a half years.
Jay was born in South Bend Indiana on May 16th 1949. Jay always knew what he wanted to do with his life. Either become a soldier or a policeman.
So he became both. He was a graduate of Butler University in Indiana. He is survived by his two children James and Melinda Varga, and his two siblings Kevin and Katherine.
He dedicated his life to serving and protecting others.
He always fought for what he believed was right and stood his ground.

He was and always will be my BIG BROTHER. You could rely, and depend upon him. Loved to watch all the cowboy shows on TV – and could tell you each actors full names and many times some interesting info about them. He also loved History – and could recite dates and what happened then like he had just read the history book on the event. Very sharp mind and wit. He’ll always be remembered for his short and to the point comments that would cut to the very core. He will be missed by MANY and touched so many of our lives. He will be dearly missed. Love – his little sister Kay

  2. I met Jay on the first day of the Police Academy. We were in the same class January 1975 and we became instant friends. He was a special person and very articulate as well as witty. He was in my wedding. I have many good memories of him especially those dealing with basketball and Butler University. He will be missed.

I was a kind of borderline kid in Westwood in the late ’70s. Jay was one of the Westwood beat cops. I saw him a lot. He was always a good guy. I am very sorry for your loss.
